Dec 15

So, every xray so far has shown no signs of intestinal perforation. Blood cultures are coming back normal. These things mean that whatever is making Eve so sick is less and less likely to be NEC. They are keeping her on two very powerful antibiotics just in case,  especially since nothimg is conclusive right now.

Eve is still having a difficult time with her lungs. They put her on a different ventilator today. This one shakes her whole little body. I can't imagine how uncomfortable thar would be. Apparently, the medical community feels the same way as she has been given sedatives to help her sleep through it.

So, good news: PDA is healed and possibly no NEC. Bad news: either of those could return or be an issue still and little Evie girl is still very very sick with no solid explanation as of yet.

More good news: I had a good visit today and actually was not crying on the way home for the first time. Also, I picked up two Christmas beanies at the gift shop and will tinker with them to get them to fit Eve for pictures with Santa on Friday. I'm still reluctant and even a little angry to do them, but trying to make myself ok with it.

Next xray is tomorrow morning,  so hopefully no updates until then.

  1. Hoping, praying, and thinking about you all 24/7. I'm glad to hear that it's not leaning toward the NEC, but not knowing what is wrong, I'm sure, is very frustrating to say the least. All my love, Aunt Cat
