Jan 7

I visited Eve around 4:30 this morning. She didn't do well with being held again, so I spent most of the time putting my hands in her incubator while she happily rested.

I called for an update tonight. She now has a ram cannula for her cpap instead of the mask or prongs. This is the tube that goes around the face with none of the headgear. She has been doing well on it so far. I can't wait to see and hold her without all the things wrapped around her little head!

She only had 3 episodes today (not counting the 3 she had when I was holding her). They scare me out of my wits, but have been assured this is all normal for her age and size.

The nurse also let us know that Eve had a small pimple-like red bump on her forehead that the doctor drained and sent samples to the lab. It is probably nothing (maybe dry skin), but they always test to make sure there is no infection present. They are also putting antibiotics on it every 6 hours until they get the results.

I'm debating on whether or not to make another 4:30 visit tomorrow morning. If I don't, I won't see her tomorrow; if I do, it's almost 10 pm and I'm still pumping. The mommy guilt of not seeing her as often as I think I should is intense.
